Well I haven't been doing much journaling or painting and I posted this for Animal Wednesday but since not many saw it I am adding it to PPF too...I've been in kind of a bla mood lately and haven't been in the mood to finish anything. Something that hits me in January every year. . I so need to get back to it soon... I've been doing a few little quicky ink sketches in a lined journal notebook I keep with me and use to write things in that I need to do, get or find or some idea I hear on TV or read in a magazine. So I went thru and found a few sketches I did and thought I would post them for Animal Wednesday.. I did this very quick as in five minutes or less..as Annie doesn't stay in one position for very long. She was actually laying on Con's chest here.. Her upper body laying one way and her legs spread out as she loves her belly petted..:) She does this a lot. Con moved this time and I lost the pose so this is all I got.
It was easier capturing this pose
She moves so quickly , stretching and moving her feet in different poses constantly, that I have to do these fast so I capture what I can.
I did this of Mr Milo when he was staying with us in December.
He liked that we had stairs to our bed for Annie. He just walked right up onto the bed and made himself at home. :) He was laying at the foot of the bed. I didn't have my camera at that moment and wanted to capture this for my memories. Simple sketch but it brings that moment right back to me.
Here's our little minx making herself comfy on the couch pillows.
We have to put a quilt on the couch as she loves to roll on the couch regularly and knock all the pillows to the ground.
Like I said..our little minx. :)
A couple weeks ago it snowed some and here I was chasing the Ducks back home.
It didn't last long but made everything white for awhile. They were blending in with the snow so I thought it best they get out of the street. Actually this is what we are seeing each morning right now.. well yes the Ducks too.. but I am talking about the white landscape color...there is heavy icy white frost everywhere in the mornings as its been unseasonably COLD here lately. It seemed to be warmer when it was snowing.
I started working on another journal page today, but didn't get it done in time.
Friday nigh,t this week, is the opening of the Art show I got my painting in that I posted in last weeks PPF post..
The show is called
EXPOSE YOURSELF 2013
A public Hanging of Oregon Artists.
The reception is from five to seven Friday night.
It will hang there till Feb 28.
I hope to get some photos to share.
I did get a sneak peek at the show on Wednesday, altho it wasnt all hung yet.
Looks fabulous.
Happy paint party Friday.

These are delightful sketches, Chris with the different poses. I love doing "quicky sketches", but in the last few days I've been trying to do slow-mo drawing, contour. I know just what you mean about a simple sketch bringing back the moment. Love the back views of the ducks en route...
ReplyDeleteReally love your sketches of Annie, she is such a sweet girl. Give her a hug from me.
ReplyDeleteLove your sketches. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteGreat sketches. Dogs are difficult to draw. They don't like for you to stare at them first of all then they move a lot unless they are asleep. Good try. HAW.
ReplyDeleteI'd say you did a great job capturing the countenance of miss Annie ! I know what you mean about motion, as I have very few drawings of king Henry ! Happy animal Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteShe is such a sweetie and you did such wonderful sketches of her.
ReplyDeleteHAW
Great sketches... I feel as if I *know* Annie....the first sketch shows how much she loves and trusts Con.... animals never show their bellies unless they feel safe.... of course, we all know Annie and Daisy are really loved.....(and spoiled)...how I wish animals everywhere lived their lives!
ReplyDeleteLove the *Ducks-in-a-row* marching through the snow! (I hear the march from *Peter and the Wolf*!)
Also loved your last post... though I am sad the Sheep moved...you got some WONDERFUL photos though...hmmm...perhaps a new painting will come from them?
HAW!
Love,
♥ Robin ♥
you have captured your dog beautifully and have to say i was especially pleased to see him up on the couch and using a cushion as Mushu is always doing that... he even pushes them off the sofa and uses them on the cool floor when it is hot like it is at the moment... lucky they are adorable...xx

ReplyDeleteSweet Annie. Lovely sketches. Its good practice to do those quick ones. Yours turned out beautifully. My dog loves to lay on the couch too. In fact I think she sits on the living room couches way more than any people do! Happy PPF
ReplyDeletewhat delightful and sweet sketches! I especially love the one of Annie so relaxed at the top. We have a dog named Annie too and she likes to sleep like that in the summer. Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteGreat animal sketches and glimpses into your peaceful lifestyle. We have about that much snow still on the ground here after a week. It's fun to have a change in seasons!

I love to see your sketches, I think it really shows our true nature, the ducks really do blend in with the snow don't they! Maybe the art show will boost your bla mood, best of luck!
ReplyDeletei love the doggy sketches today! I'm a new follower too! Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteGreat sketches. I have two dogs, and I haven't yet tried to draw our newer one, but this is inspiring.
ReplyDeleteThanks!

As a dog lover and artist, I love your 5-minute sketches! Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for your comments on my quicky ink sketches. I only used a ball point ink pen on these .. it was handy at the moment I had the urge to sketch. I usually take a photo but no camera was handy so I used what was at my finger tips. I am finding it more rewarding to do the little sketches over taking a photo.
ReplyDeleteLove the sketches...she is a sweetie. I am such a dog lover and she looks so cozy! Lots of love in those sketches, and in the photo!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your exhibit!!
Hugs Giggles

ReplyDeleteThanks Joss, Its fun getting your work out there in the public eye. I know yours will go well too.
ReplyDeleteHi Cris, fellow Oregon artist here :) Love your new blog. You do great sketches of your dogs. Congratulation on the exhibit!
ReplyDeletewow, Chris, your 5 minute sketches are amazing! such a great drawing discipline to engage in (though I tend to avoid it like the plague... you inspire me to pick up the pen and "just do it"!
