I have been working in my first journal trying to finish it up, so I did three pages this week and
have two more to go to finally finish it. I still haven't decided how to finish it off but it will come.
This page came from my neighbor calling to tell me to go out at 7 AM one morning recently to see a Raccoon that was eating her bread she put out for the birds. It's been hanging around right when we decid to get chickens. So she has had to wait to put out the bread in the mornings. We think it sleeps under some outbuildings near by and stops on its way to go sleep to eat a bite. Not good. We also have tons of Red Winged Black birds hanging around.
Of course I had to add the Ewe and baby to one of the pages.
And this is my view out my Kitchen window right now.
Minus the chain link fence but then this is MY journal after all. :)
The birds love taking baths in this clay pot I put out for them.
And we have had lovely weather lately. Which probably will be disappearing soon.
Our chicken coop is coming along.
I feel like we are living in the movie.
Mr. Blandings builds his Dream house.
Circa 1948 ish..
Cary Grant and Myrna Loy.
Its never as easy or as cheap as you first figure to build something.
The Chicken coop is coming along.
Slow but sure.
Slow but sure.
Its not going to be white, this was the inside, but we changed our minds on the door placement.
Its going to be the color of our house to blend in here.
The roof got put on today although we didn't have enough of the roll of roofing he used on the arbor that he THOUGHT we had left so we had to go get something to finish off the roof and we went for a cheaper fix... A roll of roofing is nearly 50 bucks and we only needed a tiny piece of it and a Package of compo shingles was 22 bucks..it doesn't match but he got artsy with it and it works for us and its going to keep the rain out. :))
Anyone that missed my last post on the Chickens just go to the post below this one.

ReplyDeleteThe raccoon looks like a tough one! And I love the redwing black bird. The journal pages look great and it's so nice to see your sheep and surroundings. Good luck on the coop!
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for all your lovely comments. I appreciate everyone of them. Yes Dianne, I do work from my own photos generally. Once in a while I do sketch live or memory but birds move to fast for me to capture them without a photo.
ReplyDeleteI have been up to my eye balls in work on this chicken coop painting it inside and out so have been really busy and tired.. seems at my age I don't accomplish as much as I use to..and its wearing me out.. but I will be around to your blogs as soon as it lets up or when the rains come back which should be tonight I hear. We have been trying to get as much done while the weather has been warm and dry.
Oh and I was asked before if the chicks peep much. They do but its a sweet peep and doesn't bother us.:))
I always love seeing your journal pages and inspiration from nature!

ReplyDeletelove that view from your kitchen window!
ReplyDeleteYou have such an excellent eyes for detail Cris. Love the raccoon this week. Happy PPF.
ReplyDeleteHi Chris, It is fun to see things moving along. I can see why you would be nervous about the raccoon. They are certainly opportunists! I love your drawings of the red-wing blackbird and the bird in the upside-down flower-pot, too. When the red-wings show up here it is a sure sign of Spring. But we are to have more snow on Monday and it was only 41 degrees for a high today.
ReplyDeleteThe coop is looking amazing and i love the sheep page... drove past a feel of them earlier and they were all jumping and being cute in the sunshine after so much rain... xx
ReplyDeleteLove the black bird and the raccoon!! Very nice!!
